The InvestEngine Impact — Year in Review: methodology
1. Purpose and scope
The InvestEngine Impact — Year in Review is a retrospective, informational summary of customer activity on the InvestEngine platform, based on recorded data from customer accounts.
Its purpose is to help customers understand how they used the platform and the types of activity that occurred over the period shown. The InvestEngine Impact — Year in Review is not investment advice, does not constitute a recommendation, and should not be relied upon when making investment decisions.
Data is accurate as of 16 March 2026. The growth assumption is used solely for illustrative purposes and does not represent expected returns.
2. Data sources
The InvestEngine Impact — Year in Review is generated using data recorded within InvestEngine systems, including:
- account balances and holdings
- transaction, contribution, and funding records — this summary is not intended to be a complete or definitive record of account activity
- portfolio composition and ETF holdings
- platform fees and pricing information
- historical performance data
- platform usage metadata (such as logins)
Some contextual reference data is sourced from publicly available third‑party datasets, including savings rates, inflation measures, and market indices. Source data may be subject to revision. Third‑party data is used for general context only and may not align precisely with individual customer circumstances.
3. Time period and data availability
Unless otherwise stated, The InvestEngine Impact — Year in Review reflects activity during the 2025/26 tax year (6 April 2025 to 16 March 2026), using the most recent data available at the time of generation.
Certain insights are displayed only where sufficient data exists. Customers with limited funding, short holding periods, or incomplete records may receive simplified or generic summaries instead of personalised figures. Where data is limited, outputs may rely on simplified assumptions and should be interpreted accordingly.
4. Account types and eligibility
The InvestEngine Impact — Year in Review may include information relating to the following account types, where applicable:
- Individual savings accounts (ISA)
- Self invested personal pensions (SIPP)
- General investment accounts (GIA)
- Business investment accounts
Which sections are shown depends on the account types held, funding levels, and data sufficiency thresholds. Where multiple accounts exist, sections may be prioritised or combined for presentation purposes. Regional comparisons do not imply differences in performance, outcomes, or suitability.
5. Fees and fee comparisons
Fee‑related figures shown in The InvestEngine Impact — Year in Review are based on InvestEngine’s published pricing and internal records of fees charged.
Any references to ‘fees saved’ or similar comparisons are illustrative only. They compare InvestEngine fees against a defined set of competitor fee schedules using consistent assumptions and do not reflect actual fees paid elsewhere or guaranteed savings. References to ‘fees saved’ do not represent actual savings and should not be relied upon as an indication of the amount an investor would save.
Any projected or long‑term figures are hypothetical and for illustration only. These projections use a 10‑year time horizon and assume a 10% annual account growth rate. The assumed growth rate is a fixed modelling input used solely for illustration and is not intended to represent expected or typical investment returns. These figures should not be interpreted as forecasts, projections, or an indication of future performance or costs.
Long‑term figures show how fees may accumulate over time under a simplified and consistent set of assumptions. They are not cash‑flow or portfolio balance simulations and do not account for how fees may reduce balances, change trading behaviour, or affect future fees over time. The model also does not account for contributions, withdrawals, tax impacts, or changes in pricing structures over time.
Competitor fee information is based on publicly available sources and general assumptions. may not reflect all features, services, or charges, and products and services may not be directly comparable. For up‑to‑date fees, please refer to the relevant provider’s website. Actual costs and outcomes will vary depending on individual circumstances.
6. Tax‑related estimates
Some sections of The InvestEngine Impact — Year in Review include estimated tax‑related figures, such as:
- illustrative tax shielding within ISAs
- pension tax relief credited to SIPPs
- simplified examples of potential tax impact
These figures are estimates only and do not account for individual tax circumstances. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change.
Projected or scenario‑based figures are hypothetical and assume unchanged conditions and are not forecasts of future outcomes. Projected figures use a 10‑year time horizon and an assumed 10% account growth rate. These figures should not be interpreted as an indication of future tax outcomes or benefits.
7. Performance data and contextual comparisons
Performance figures shown in The InvestEngine Impact — Year in Review are based on historical returns recorded on the platform.
In some cases, contextual comparisons are shown using:
- aggregated and anonymised InvestEngine customer data
- customer groupings based on shared characteristics (such as time period, age band, or region)
- external reference rates or indices (such as savings rates, inflation, or market indices)
These comparisons are provided for context only. They are not benchmarks, are not risk‑adjusted, and should not be interpreted as indicators of future performance. Past performance does not guarantee future results. Comparisons may not reflect individual customer portfolio, risk profiles, or investment strategies.
Returns are calculated as a time‑weighted return (TWR).
8. Scores, labels, and descriptive categories
The InvestEngine Impact — Year in Review uses descriptive labels, scores, and categories to summarise patterns in customer behaviour and account characteristics.
Some scores are composite indicators derived from multiple inputs, such as portfolio simplicity, time invested, and return variability. Weightings and calculation methods are determined internally and applied consistently across customers.
These labels and scores are illustrative only. They do not represent assessments of investment quality, risk, suitability, or expected outcomes, and should not be relied upon for decision making. They are not intended to guide or influence investment decisions.
9. Regional groupings
Where regional comparisons are shown, customers are grouped using address information and standard geographic classifications. Regional groupings are used solely for descriptive and comparative presentation purposes.
10. Third‑party content
Some customers may see messages or video content from InvestEngine team members or third‑party partners.
The selection of such content is determined automatically using predefined rules based on recorded account attributes or referral information. The inclusion of third‑party content does not imply endorsement, recommendation, or assessment of individual investment outcomes.
11. Limitations
The InvestEngine Impact — Year in Review:
- reflects only activity recorded on the InvestEngine platform
- does not include assets held outside the platform
- may not align exactly with official account statements
- may change as data, assumptions, or presentation rules evolve
Customers should refer to official statements and disclosures for definitive records.
