Two ways to relax
At InvestEngine, we do the hard work for you. Just tell us your aims, how much you want to invest, the level of risk you’re comfortable with, and decide which type of investment account you’d like: an Individual Savings Account (ISA) or a General Investment Account (GIA).
How do they work?
Investment ISA
A great way to make the most of your money. Every year, you can invest a certain amount into an ISA tax-free, so you don’t pay income tax or capital gains tax as your investment grows.
General Investment Account
A flexible way of investing your money. There’s no limit to how much you can invest, and you can access your funds at anytime without worrying about tax-free allowances.
What’s the difference?
Both types of account use carefully selected exchange-traded funds (ETFs) that mirror the performance of a range of global indices to create a fully diversified portfolio for you – crucial to minimising risk over the long term and taking advantage of growth opportunities wherever or whenever they arise.
The only difference between the two is the amount you can invest, and the way your returns are taxed. Here’s a summary:
Investment ISA
GIA
Maximum you can invest per tax year
£20,000*
Unlimited
Tax on dividends taken per tax year
Unlimited tax free
£2,000 tax free
Capital gains tax allowance per tax year
Unlimited tax free
£12,000 tax free#
* Total limit for all ISA types
# Per person across all investments held in each tax year
These thresholds tend to change and certain restrictions apply when it comes to tax on dividends. If you already have cash or investment ISAs with other providers from previous years, you can transfer them into your InvestEngine ISA at any time without using any of your current-year ISA tax-free allowance.
InvestEngine does the work for you
Whichever InvestEngine account you choose, you can rest easy. Our team, investment strategy, technology and low fees are geared to making your money work harder to deliver smarter returns, whatever your chosen risk profile.
Easy to set up
Putting your money to work with an InvestEngine investment is simple. Just tell us your aims, how much you want to invest, and the level of risk you’re comfortable with. Then we’ll select an investment portfolio that matches your needs. And with a minimum investment of only £2,000, it’s easy to get InvestEngine working for you today.
It costs you less
Our proven technology and market-tracking approach keeps costs to an absolute minimum. And you keep more of what your investment makes thanks to our 0.45% annual management fee. That compares very favourably with traditional fund management where you’ll most likely pay far higher fees for an active investment approach.
Your money works harder
By tracking entire markets, we can give you an investment portfolio that is fully diversified – crucial to minimising risk over the long term and taking advantage of growth opportunities wherever or whenever they arise.
You’re in control
With our easy-to-use technology you can check the performance of your investment at any time, enabling you to see how hard your money is working whenever you want. And naturally our easy-to-access investments are fully flexible so you can withdraw money when it suits you.
Transfer your ISA for free
It’s easy to transfer any ISAs you already have into an InvestEngine Stocks & Shares ISA – simply fill out our ISA transfer form and we’ll do the rest. There’s no fee and it won’t use your tax allowance for this year providing the funds were invested before this tax year.
